Peru State Holds Digital Version of Cats4Consent

PERU – Peru State College hosts observances in April for Sexual Assault Awareness Month, including digital events for Wear Teal day and the social media campaign “Cats4Consent.”
A college press release says the digital version of Cats4Consent yielded 19,548 Facebook engagements, over 69,000 Twitter impressions and 732 YouTube video reviews.
Maddy McPhillips and Ethan Arnold coordinate video efforts to engage many campus staff members and student athletes. One video featured staff walking in high heels and reportedly caught College President Dan Hanson showing his balance and agility.
A second video featured high heels in various sports scenarios and included Bobcat athletic department comments in support of SAAM efforts.

Chalk the Walk provided visual participation in SAAM Month. Committee member Julia Zurek and her cat produced one piece.
“Wear Teal” was one of two dress days.
SAAM committee chair Susanne Williams said the committee is pleased with the level of participation in the digital version of Cats4Consent.
Williams: “It demonstrates the commitment of our students, staff and faculty to supporting survivors of sexual violence and preventing relationship violence.”
