Girls Parings Out For State Basketball

Weeping Water, Falls City Sacred Heart and Sterling set for state basketball on March 5

NEBRASKA CITY – The girls state basketball pairings are out.

D1

The Weeping Water Indians are the top seed with a record of 25 and 1. They will play Hartington Cedar Catholic March 5 at 9 a.m. at Lincoln Southwest.

D2

Falls City Sacred Heart is the top seed with a 24 and 3 record. They will play Loomis on March 5 at 9 a.m. at Lincoln North Star.

Seventh-seeded Sterling will play second-seeded Humphrey St. Francis March 5 at 7 p.m. on Lincoln Southwest.

March 6 games are at the Devaney Sports Center.

 

The boys state basketball brackets are being finalized after Monday’s finals.

 Boys results 

C1 - Auburn earned its way into the tournament with a 58 to 35 win over David City Aquinas on Monday.

C2- Palmyra defeated Hartington Cedar Catholic 52 to 44 on Saturday.

D2- Falls City Sacred Heart earned its spot in the state tournament with a 81 to 27 win over Sioux County.

Johnson-Brock defeated Mead on Monday 31 to 30.

Girls district final results

In girls state basketball, River County has three teams.

D1 - Weeping Water advanced with a win over Twin River on 55 to 20.

D2 - Falls City Sacred Heart defeated Wauneta-Palisade 55 to 20

D2 - Sterling defeated Anselmo-Merna 39 to 35

The girls will play at Pinnacle Bank Arena March 5-7 and the boys will play March 12-14.
