WASHINGTON, D.C. –  U.S. Sen. Deb Fischer, chairman of the Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Transportation and Safety, offered her thanks Monday to the U.S. Department of Transportation for awarding a grant to the Sac and Fox Nation to improve transit services.

Fischer: “By improving transit services, this funding will help keep Nebraska Native Americans in Richardson County connected, ensuring residents can travel safely and efficiently.”

The Sac and Fox Nation of Missouri in Kansas and Nebraska, located in Richardson County, has been granted $249,999.

This project was selected on a competitive basis through the Tribal Transit Grant Program.
The Tribal Transit program makes funds available to help American Indian and Alaskan Native tribal governments initiate, continue and improve transit service.

The grantee must now work with the nearest FTA Regional Office to access the funding award.
