Inspired Hope Renovating Former Duff's Building
Mayor proclaims #BeKind and Jaycee Family Week

NEBRASKA CITY – The Citizens Advisory Review Committee has recommended approval of a forgivable loan of $196,133 for a $860,000 project by Inspired Hope LLC.
The Christian-based Inspired Hope LLC proposes using the former Duff’s Nursing Home building for a mental health and substance abuse solution center.
The city loan will help replace the building’s elevator and fire safety equipment. It is forgivable if the center has 12 employees.
Economic Developer Dan Mauk recommends adding early childhood infrastructure development to the uses for the Nebraska City Growth Fund.
NCTC’s Community Development Committee is hosting Santa Claus at the Old Stone Cabin from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8. Photos with Santa are given to families.

Mayor Bryan Bequette declared Nebraska City Jaycee Family Week Nov. 10-16. Activities include a movie night, bowling night and Operation Christmas Child box fill.

The mayor also proclaimed #Be Kind week Nov. 11-15.
Carla Zaroban requested the proclamation noting the need to promote kindness all year long. The #BeKind came from former Nebraska City residents Mark and Joni Adler who tragically lost a son who they believed could have been helped by just a little kindness.

Amy Allgood of NCTC provides an update on the downtown speaker project. The Wirth Foundation provided funding for wireless speakers, but the frequency interfered with Nebraska City Utilities.
A speaker system using fiber optic cable is proposed with speakers situated on roof tops. B103 FM will provide content and there will be special content for holidays and events.
Building Inspector Keith Morrison has proposed declaring a building at 1409 Fifth Corso as an unsafe building.
The city intends to send a letter to Henrik Schwim of Ogallala saying the vacant building has open doors and a failing foundation.
City commissioners considered the lease of a billboard to Lamar Advertising. I has been leased since 1998 for $100 a year. The city proposes $175 a year.
The city’s agreement with the Fraternal Order of Police was discussed.
