Sheriffs Induct Brueggemann Into Hall of Fame
Cass County Sheriff William Brueggemann inducted Tuesday at sheriff's conference in Kearney
By News Channel NebraskaPLATTSMOUTH - The Cass County Sheriff’s Office has posted a congratulations to Sheriff William C. Brueggemann for his induction into the Nebraska Sheriff’s Hall of Fame.
Sheriff Brueggemann, who joined the Cass County Sheriff’s Office in 1987 and has been sheriff the past 28 years, was inducted Tuesday at the sheriff’s conference in Kearney.
Lt. Jeff Lickei nominated the sheriff for the Hall of Fame, noting a course of steady accomplishment in his career and a dedication to the youth of the community.
The sheriff recently spent the day with 130 sixth graders in Plattsmouth. The event, called Happy Camp, is an opportunity to teach elementary students about crime scenes, drug abuse and bullying.
He has led after-prom activities that use fun ways to warn students again impaired driving.
The sheriff founded the Explorers group, which typically involves 12 to 15 students in a mini-academy regarding careers in law enforcement.

- Nebraska Sheriff Association president
- Nebraska Victim’s Committee
- Judicial nominating committee
- Treasurer of Nebraska Law Enforcement Network for 18 years
- Representative of Western States Sheriffs Association
- Vice Chair for the school safety committee of the National Sheriff’s Association
- County attorneys standard advisory board since 2011
- President's award from the National Association of County Officials in 2000
- US Attorney selection for Sheriff of the Year
Lt. Lickei said Brueggemann has been active in the Kiwanis Club, is a TeamMates mentor and brought both DARE and GREAT programs to Cass County schools.
He was instrumental in laying the groundwork for the new law enforcement center.
