Tecumseh Inmate Dies After Prison Assault
LINCOLN – The Nebraska Department of Corrections reports the death of a Tecumseh State Correctional Institution inmate on Saturday.
Anthony Davis, 40, had been hospitalized since Sept. 16 and died Sept. 28 at Bryan Medical Center West in Lincoln.
The corrections department says Davis was being treated for injuries inflicted by another inmate during an assault. The state did not identify the other inmate and says the Nebraska State Patrol is investigating.
Davis began serving a life sentence in 2014 for first degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony. He was convicted in Douglas County.
As is the case whenever an inmate dies in the custody of the Department of Correctional Services, a grand jury will also conduct an investigation.
