FALLS CITY – The Richardson County Board is scheduled to consider lawsuit settlements over the closure of a bridge near Rulo.

Lazy J Farms and Twin Oaks Bachman Farms filed  lawsuits in 2006  claiming their property along 709th Road near the Missouri River north of Rulo is inaccessible because the county terminated access to a bridge.

The county says the county board received a claim of $400,000 after it closed the bridge. The county says the truss bridge does not have a weight rating suitable for heavy farm equipment. The county also claims that the local drainage district shares responsibility for costs.

The board will also consider annual salary increases for law enforcement staff, including jailers and dispatchers.
