AUBURN - District Judge Julie Smith found an Indiana man incompetent to stand trial in Nemaha County, where he is charged with separate charges of escape and terroristic threats against Neighborhood Closet employees.

The judge’s order Thursday says there is a probability that 22-year-old Arden Johnson will become competent soon and set a March 25 hearing date. She committed Johnson to the Department of Health and Human Services to restore competency.

A sheriff’s office affidavit says Johnson used force to run past a secure jail door on Dec. 19.

He was in jail awaiting trial on allegations that he caused disturbances at various businesses in Auburn and threatened to kill employees at the thrift store.
