Conestoga Splits Basketball Doubleheader at Elmwood-Murdock on Friday

MURDOCK, NE - The Knights of Elmwood-Murdock brought in the Cougars of Conestoga for a doubleheader of basketball action on Friday, as heard on B103.

In the opener, the Elmwood-Murdock girls continued their impressive season, walloping the Cougars, 64-29. Conestoga held a 22-6 lead after the opening quarter and didn't look back. The visitors never connected from downtown & went 9/16 at the free throw line. EM ended up hitting six treys and 14/23 at the charity stripe. Conestoga saw four players score on the night with Grade Rodis hitting for 14 & Ayla Garrett dropping in a dozen. Ten different players scored for the Knights. Brooklyn Mans led the charge with 16, while Zoe Zierott finished with twelve. Elmwood-Murdock improved to 12-1 with the win, while Conestoga fell to 4-10.

The nightcap saw EM come up short to Conestoga, 64-56, in a tight battle. Conestoga was a solid 14/19 at the FT line, while EM wasn't there as often, hitting 7/11. Cole Merwald led the Cougars with 20, while Mason Merwald dropped in 16. Three players ended up in double figures for the Knights - Carson Towle (16), Brody Marsh (13), and Dashiell Colman (12). The loss knocked Elmwood-Murdock to 5-6 on the season, while Conestoga is now 7-5 after adding a Saturday win over Cornerstone Christian.

The Cougars host Palmyra on Tuesday, while the Knights will visit Tri-County the same night.
