Edward Bade, 89 of Neb. City

Edward C. Bade, age 89 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at the Gately House in Syracuse, NE. 

Ed was born on June 8, 1936 near Dunbar, NE; the only child of Arthur and Irene (Smallfoot) Bade.  He attended school in Lorton, NE and later from 1950-1954 in Dunbar, NE where he graduated from the Dunbar High School with the Class of 1954.

On June 14, 1955, he was united in marriage to Ann Loretta Kreifels at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City.

Ed worked for Otoe County Roads Dept. from 1954 to 1960.  He later began his career at the State of Nebraska Department of Roads in 1960 and served as the Foreman until his retirement in 1998.   He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus.  In recognition of his service to the council, he received the Knight of the Year Award.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ann on December 21, 2023 and his parents Arthur and Irene.

Ed is survived by a brother-in-law Emil Kreifels, a sister-in-law Louise Kreifels and numerous nieces and nephews; other family and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebr. City with Fr. Tom Schultes officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Nebr. City.

The Rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m. at the church prior to the Mass.

Memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Lourdes Central Catholic School.
