FALLS CITY, NE - The Falls City-Sacred Heart Irish split a home doubleheader with the visiting Johnson-Brock Eagles on Thursday, as heard on B103.

The opener was an epic battle that saw Johnson-Brock's ladies walk away triumphant in overtime, 51-49. FC-SH led by seven after the first quarter, but that lead was trimmed to two at break time. The Eagles went on top by four at the end of the third, before the teams got knotted up at 48 at the end of regulation. In overtime, Daley Pelican hit the lone basket, draining a trey for JB. Hallie Jones hit a free throw to provide FC-SH with its lone overtime tally. Pelican finished with a dozen points for JB, while Kassie Knippelmeyer led her squad with thirteen. Kinley Vice & Jose Stutheit were also in double digits for the Eagles with eleven & ten points, respectively. For the Irish, Jones led the team with 18 points with twelve of those coming at the charity stripe. Daycee Witt added thirteen & Avery Santo dropped in ten. Each team is now 12-6 on the season.

In the nightcap, the Falls City-Sacred Heart guys put together a big third quarter to come back and stun Johnson-Brock, 54-50. The Eagles held a six-point lead after the first frame, but that was cut to a single point at 25-24 when the halftime buzzer sounded. The Irish drained 19 points in the third to lead by five and held that margin when it was over. FC-SH's Brenden Lemerond scored 19 points in the second half and finished with 24 on the night, while Cole Taft chipped in with thirteen. Brody Koehler led JB with 15 points, while Deacon Bernadt slipped in ten. The Eagles fell to 14-3 with the loss, while the Irish nudged above .500 at 8-7.

The Eagles get right back on the court tonight when they host Southern. Both schools will take part in the Pioneer Conference Tourney next week.
