NEBRASKA CITY- The Otoe County election office reports filings for the 2026 May primary election, including Katie Rudy for the Otoe County Register of Deeds.

Rudy has been with Register Ruth Ann Weddle since she took office in 2011. Rudy, who was born and raised in Otoe County, began as a clerk in the deeds office and was named the deputy in 2019.

She said the experience has given her a strong understanding of the office’s responsibilities and the importance of safekeeping public records.

Also filing for the Republican nomination are incumbent county board members Chuck Cole of Otoe for District 1 and Jerad Sornson of Nebraska City for District 3.

Jenny Bassinger has filed for re-election as county clerk.

Candidate filing began Jan. 5. Incumbents have until Feb. 17 to file and non-incumbents have until March 2.
