Mark S. Matson, age 72 of Wills Point, TX passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at the Ambassador in Nebraska City.

Mark Steven Matson was born on February 21, 1953 in Sioux Falls, SD; the son of Otto and Janet (Wrege) Matson.  He attended high school in Jasper, MN, graduating from Jasper High School with the Class of 1971.  During his high school years, Mark worked as a farmhand for numerous farmers in the area and he also participated in wrestling.

Over the years, he worked at various jobs including as a Masonry Tender; where he prepared materials, and mixed mortar.  He later worked in the meat processing industry and lastly worked in auto services including at the station in Farragut, IA.  Some of his favorite hobbies were fishing and hunting.

Mark is survived by his children:  Brandi Matson of Corning, IA, Bradley Matson (Jamie) of Nebr. City, NE, Adam Ott (Michael) of Thurman, IA and Janet Davis (Dontae) of Omaha, NE; nine grandchildren:  Brittany, Brianna, Jagar, Jaxx, Jentri, Jarik, Layla, Ziven, and Titus; three great-grandchildren:  SeKani, Ja’Naya and Avanna; siblings:  Alan Matson, Dana Matson and Jennifer Dean all of Texas, Guy Matson of Iowa and Timothy Matson of California; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Otto and Janet, granddaughter Ava and brother Jeffery Matson.

No formal services will be held at this time.
