Jane Ann (Elske) Hogue, 81, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born on October 23, 1944, in Falls City, Nebraska to Walter and Mildred (Bennett) Elske.  She attended school in Dawson and received her diploma from Dawson-Verdon Consolidated High School.  On August 26, 1962, Jane was united in marriage to Larry Schuetz at Faith Lutheran Church in Humboldt.  To this union two sons, Bruce K. and Brian E., were born.  The couple would later divorce.  Jane worked for many years as a switchboard operator and secretary for O.A. Cooper Company until its closing.  She then worked for Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville, Nebraska for 15 years.  On August 24, 1997, Jane married Dennis Hogue.  The couple moved to Lincoln where Jane worked for Ground Water Foundation and Habitat for Humanity.  In 2012, she moved back to Humboldt and worked part-time at the Humboldt Standard.  In her spare time, Jane enjoyed Spending time with her family, doing crafts, playing cards with friends, and working in her yard.

Jane passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of eighty-one years, two months, and eight days.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Dennis Hogue, brothers Duane and Vernon Elske, and niece Marcia Kay (Elske) Mitchell.

Jane is survived by her sons: Bruce Schuetz and wife Linda of Humboldt, Brian Schuetz and wife Michelle of Auburn, 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Sharon Elske of Waterloo, NE; special and dedicated friends: Lenora Glathar of Humboldt, Dorothy Nolte of Humboldt, and Bobbi Shubert of Shubert, NE; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the Faith Lutheran Church in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Tim Llewellyn officiating.  Interment will immediately follow services at the Humboldt Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Wherry Mortuary, 207 N. Nemaha Street in Humboldt, Nebraska.  Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the family’s choice with a later designation.
