PAWNEE CITY - Juan Ramirez Jr., 29, of Lincoln is scheduled for preliminary hearing in Pawnee County on Feb. 5 on charges of assault.

A sheriff’s office affidavit says a 39-year-old woman described a Dec. 24 assault that included pressure on her airway. The affidavit says the woman recanted her statements days after the report, but told investigators Ramirez threatened to retaliate if she didn’t recant.

Ramirez is also charged in Pawnee County with strangulation assault on Sept. 19.

A sheriff’s deputy told the court he spoke with a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner and the alleged victim.

A $100,000 bond was set in Pawnee County court.
