Betty L. Teten, 85 of Syracuse, passed away on April 10, 2024, at the Syracuse Hospital. She was born on July 2, 1938, to Norman & Anna (Damme) Saale in Johnson. Betty graduated from Talmage High School in 1956. On August 28, 1958, she married Sterling Teten at St. Paul’s UCC (Osage) in rural Cook.

Betty worked as the Chief Program Assistant with the Farm Service Agency. After retirement she worked as a paraprofessional. She was active at Faith Lutheran Church, where she served on the Altar Committee. Betty enjoyed playing cards, but most importantly she loved being with her family.

She is survived by her husband Sterling; children Kim (Larry) Griepenstroh, Steve (Marci) Teten, Mark (Angie) Teten, Kurt (Dixie) Teten; grandchildren Jeremy (Jackie) Griepenstroh, Lance (Rachel Crook) Griepenstroh, Kelsey Ahrens, Amanda Teten & Fiancé Mark Francis, Ryan (Haley) Teten, Skyler (Mackenzie) Teten, Riley Teten, Ashleigh (Jeremy) Callahan, Logan (Kendra) Teten; 14 great grandchildren; brother Norman Saale; sisters-in-law Diane Saale & Lorraine Saale.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Marcia Teten; brothers Merlin Saale & Bob Saale, infant sister Norma Saale and granddaughter-in-law Kala Griepenstroh.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 13 at 2:30 p.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church in Talmage. The service will be livestreamed on the Faith Lutheran Church Facebook page. The burial will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, near Talmage.

A viewing will be held on Friday, April 12 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the funeral home in Syracuse. Then from 6-8 p.m. the family will greet friends at the Faith Lutheran Church in Talmage.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.
