PERU, NE - The Peru State women's basketball team defeated the William Penn Statesman, 84-54, Saturday afternoon. The Bobcats are now 9-13 in the Heart of America Conference and 12-14 overall.
 
The Bobcats came out hot in the first half taking a commanding lead. The Bobcats led the Statesman after the first quarter 24-7. Natasha Deal started off the second quarter for the Bobcats with a layup. Deal tallied 12 points for the Bobcats in the first half. A final steal by Hailey Ingram and layup in the last second by Samantha Stewart helped the Bobcats lead going into halftime 46-28.
 
Kaylan Larry began the second half extending the Bobcats' lead. Hailey Ingram had eight points for the Bobcats as they went into the fourth quarter up 28 points. The team didn't let up in the final quarter as they kept pushing their lead to win the game 84-54.
 
Hailey Ingram led the Bobcats with 18 points, also having seven rebounds and four assists. Natasha Deal was close behind with 16 points, four rebounds and two assists. Kylie Diaz had 12 points, seven rebounds and five blocks with Samantha Stewart having 12 points, six rebounds and six steals. Maddy Duncan had eight points with six rebounds and four assists against the Statesmen.  
 
The Bobcats will return home on Saturday, February 24, to take on Clarke University and celebrate the seniors. Tipoff is set for 12:00 PM.
