Classmates launch balloons for Hersman
AUBURN - In a well-known area of Nemaha County where there’s typically a sea of red, the overwhelming color of purple gathered together to celebrate life, love and the lasting impact of one of their own.
Classmates, teachers, administration, family, friends, and community members joined in memory of Andrew Hersman.
Andrew, along with his step-dad Alvin, passed away in a May 8 motor vehicle accident.
The community was brought together in prayer and a message of being kind to one another as they remembered Andrew.

“Andrew was a quiet young man but had a reputation for being a hard worker. He stood on the edge of opportunity. His untimely passing is a lesson for all of us. A reminder to always be kind.” said Pastor Gfeller.
The classmates of Andrew gathered with their balloons and many wearing a shirt In Loving Memory as Pastor Gfeller reminded the crowd that “every single day we have the opportunity to be a lasting memory for someone." The balloons were released together in tribute to a friend, a student, a kind heart gone too soon.
Celebration of life service for Andrew Hersman is scheduled at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood with Pastor Luke Kuenzli officiating. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery. Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood is caring for Andrew and his family.
