Roy L. Housh, 87, Hamburg

Roy L. Housh, 87, of Hamburg, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Roy Lee Housh was born August 28, 1937, in Nebraska City, the son of Milus and Edith (Dischon) Housh. He grew up and attended school in Nebraska City. In July of 1955 he enlisted in the United States Navy where he honorably served his country until his discharge in July of 1958.
He was united in marriage to Clara Christiansen on September 12, 1957 in Nebraska City, and to this union four children were born: Arlin, David, Vickie, and Connie. The family made their home in Percival where Roy worked for Lowell Sherwood in construction and lumber supply for many years. In 2000 Roy and Clara purchased the Lumber Yard in Hamburg and the two owned and operated it for some 19 years before retiring.
Roy was a member of the Eagle’s Club and American Legion in Nebraska City, and enjoyed staying active outdoors. He loved motorcycles, boating, and racecars. He built a racecar and enjoyed racing at the Whitehead Speedway in his #71 car, and spending time at the track.
He is survived by his wife Clara Housh; children: Arlin (Carla) Housh of Crystal Lake, IL, David (Rose) Housh of Sidney, IA, Vickie (Jerry) Nuss of Nebr. City, NE, and Connie (sig. other Don Shallenberger) Gammell of Hamburg, IA; 13 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; brother Ron Housh of Oklahoma; other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Mary, Velma, and Betty; brother Robert Housh; and son-in-law Myron Gammell.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at Gude Funeral Home in Nebraska City. Burial will follow at the Grandview Cemetery in rural Sidney. Military Honors will be conducted by the Hamburg American Legion Post.
The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday (3/4) at the funeral home.
