Barbara A. Bohlken, 95, Nebr. City (formerly Auburn)

Barbara A. Bohlken age 95 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Friday; January 24, 2025 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City.
Barbara Ann (Morton) Bohlken was born on June 18, 1929 in Nebraska City, NE; the daughter of Harley F. and Cora L. (Neal) Morton. She attended country school near Union, NE and later attended the Union High School where she graduated with the Class of 1946.
She was united in marriage to Jack Jacob Bohlken on April 2, 1947 at Hiawatha, KS and to this union two sons were born: Jack and Michael.
In her younger years, Barbara worked at the Rexall Drug Store in Auburn, NE. Later, Barbara and her husband Jack owned and operated Bohlken TV and Appliance in Auburn, NE for many years and they were members of the Auburn Chamber of Commerce. She was very active in P.T.A. and the Math and Science Club in Auburn during her sons’ time in school. The couple moved to Nebraska City from Auburn in 1997.
She is survived by her sons: Jack A. Bohlken and wife Lily of Ooltewah, TN and Michael B. Bohlken and wife Joan of Frisco, TX; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; her siblings: Mary Lou Copenhaver and husband Dick of Phoenix, AZ, Judy Gerdes of Plattsmouth, NE, Sharon Grauf and husband Lenny of Plattsmouth, NE and Shirley Morris and husband Jerry of Lincoln, NE; brother-in-law Robert Bohlken and wife Mary of Maryville, MO; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack on Sept. 23, 2017, a brother Robert “Bob” Morton and her parents.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at 1:30 pm. at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City with Rev. Keith Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the Wyuka Cemetery at Nebraska City.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday (1/28) with the family greeting friends from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City.
Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church in Nebraska City.
Services are entrusted to the Gude Family at Marshall Funeral Chapel.
