JOHNSON - The Johnson-Brock volleyball team headed into the post-season sub-district tournament in a strong position as the second seed. The first game they faced number three seed, Archbishop Bergan.
The first set was controlled by the Eagles, as they displayed aggressive serving and good ball placement.  JB took the first set with a score of 25-17.

After a commanding first set win, the Eagles never looked back and were in control of the next two sets. Johnson-Brock won the second set 25-12 and the third set 25-15.

Daley Pelican and Brooklyn Buchmeier led the team’s offense, Pelican with 13 kills and Buchmeier with 31 assists. Chloe Vice had a strong showing on the defensive end with 24 digs.

In the sub-district finals match up, Johnson-Brock would face the host team and the number one seed, Oakland-Craig.  The Eagles fought hard but could not come away with a win.
OC dominated the service line, as they were able to get JB out of system, causing the Eagles to struggle defensively and offensively.  Johnson-Brock lost in three tough sets: 18-25, 13-25, and 15-25.

The Eagles positioned themselves on the top half of the wild card standings throughout the season, which helped them get a wild card to reach a District Final game and secure home-court advantage.

On Saturday, the Eagles were the #8 seed, and would face the #9 seed, the Crofton Warriors, to see who would advance to the State tournament in Lincoln this upcoming weekend.

Johnson-Brock’s offense worked extremely well together in the first two sets and caught Crofton off guard.
The Eagles would take the first two sets, winning the first set 25-22, and the second set 25-18.
The Warriors really stood behind their name and did not give up.

They figured out how to get around Johnson-Brock’s defense, and picked up their offensive game, causing the Eagles to get frazzled.

Crofton had two impressive sets and won both the third and fourth sets 25-22.

Both teams had two sets in their possession, and it came down to the fifth and final set. The Eagles fought their way back and claimed the district final victory in the fifth set 15-11.

Crofton ended its season with a record of 22-7.

Johnson-Brock will head to Lincoln with a record of 27-6, and the overall #7 seed in Class C-2.
Brooklyn Buchmeier had 50 assists, over half of them going to Taryn Otteman. Taryn had an outstanding game and ended up with 31 kills. Chloe Vice had another remarkable defensive game with 41 digs.
