McCOOL JUNCTION, NE - In the first game of the night, the McCool Junction Mustangs advanced in the Subdistrict D1-2 BBB Tournament with an 80-45 win over Lourdes Central Catholic. Four players scored in double figures for the Mustangs; Mapieu Kouchinin led the way with 19 points, Bryson Plock had 18, Carson McDonald dropped in 14, and Ryland Garretson hit for twelve. Trenton Orlando had just three points, but he piled up eleven assists. McCool Junction was a hot 11/20 from downtown in the win & hit 11/18 at the free throw line. The team built a 24-10 lead after the first quarter, and LCC never threatened that lead. Three players each scored a dozen for the Knights:  Miles Poppleton, Nolan Beccard, and Trevor Tesarek.

The night concluded with a 61-39 win for Elmwood-Murdock over Weeping Water. Elmwood-Murdock held a 17-6 after a 14-0 run in the opening quarter and out-scored Weeping Water in every frame. The Knights' offense was led by Tyson Mans with 22 points. Weeping Water got 20 from Riggs Wilson. McCool Junction & Elmwood-Murdock will clash in the Subdistrict D1-2 Championship on Thursday, Feb. 22, at 6:30p on Otoe County Country 1600AM/105.5FM & B103.FM.
