OMAHA - Sophie Coerhardt went 3-4 with two home runs, a pair of RBI's and two runs scored, and the Omaha Duchesne/Roncalli softball team came back from a 5-0 deficit to defeat Nebraska City Tuesday at the Class B-1 District Softball Tournament in Omaha, 8-5.

The loss eliminated the Pioneers and ended their season with a 14-16 record.

Nebraska City jumped out to a 5-0 lead thanks to a two-run home run from Patricia Trice and an RBI single from Emily Marth in the first inning, and a two-run shot from Abby Balfour in the second.

Balfour finished 2-4 with two RBI's and two runs scored.

Duchesne/Roncalli answered with a seven-run third inning. Coerhardt, Brooklyn Casey, Claire Doyle, Ally Parra and Lauren Roecker each drove-in runs in the inning.

Doyle earned the win in the circle. She went four innings, gave up five runs on eight hits and struck out two.

Kendyl Schmitz took the loss. She surrendered eight runs on 11 hits over seven innings.

Duchesne/Roncalli (20-13) was beat in the district championship by Omaha Gross Catholic, 11-0. No. 8 Gross will play No. 9 NEN in the B-8 District Final on Friday. The winner advances to the Nebraska School Activities Association State Softball Championships next Wednesday in Hastings.
