PLATTSMOUTH - A seven-year-old child is uninjured after being struck by a vehicle in Plattsmouth on Friday afternoon.

According to the Plattsmouth Police Department, officers and EMS responded to a report of an accident between a vehicle and a pedestrian at the 1500 block of W. 8th Avenue around 2:45 PM. An investigation revealed that a seven-year-old ran into the roadway in front of a vehicle traveling eastbound on 8th Avenue.

The vehicle was being driven by a 16-year-old, who struck the child. The child was treated by EMS at the scene, and was released without any further medical treatment needed. It was also determined there was no improper, or reckless driving on the part of the 16-year-old, with no citations being issued.

In a press release, the Plattsmouth Police Department is reminding parents to talk to their kids about street crossing safety, and to slow down when driving anywhere around town and to be aware of your speed at all times.
