Applejack weekend will feature extreme bull riding for the fifth-straight year
NEBRASKA CITY - Applejack just got extreme.
The Double S Bulls Extreme Bull Riding Tour - which travels around Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota from April through September - will host its finals at Hidden Falls Cabin and RV Park (6124 Steinhart Park Road) on Sept. 20 and 21.
Nebraska City will host the finals on Applejack Festival weekend for the third consecutive year and event organizer, Tony Moyer, says it's going to be a good year with added money for the riders.
"When it's this close, it makes the action more exciting for the fans to see and for the bull riders, too. We have the top bulls around going to be there from Double S Bulls."
Riders will compete for $10,000 in added money and prizes.
Tickets are on-sale now for $15 at nebraskacityextremebullriding.com. The price jumps to $20 at the gate.
Another event organizer, Chelsea Parker, says gates will open an hour earlier than they have in the past.
"They usually open at 5 p.m. This year, they're opening at 4 p.m., because the committee has done such a wonderful job of getting some more vendors - some more western wear and food vendors. Definitely come early, take part in that and enjoy, before the action starts at 7 p.m."
Mutton bustin', live music from "Flippin' Whiskey" and a beer garden will also be featured each night.
