ELMWOOD, NE - Syracuse and Elmwood-Murdock split a Thursday night doubleheader in hoops action, as heard on B103.

The girls' game started slowly with a 6-4 lead for Elmwood-Murdock after the first quarter. EM bumped it up to a 21-15 lead at the break & a 31-20 advantage heading into the fourth. The Knights dominated the final frame, 12-3, for a final score of 43-23. EM saw balanced scoring with a dozen from Brooklyn Man, and ten points each from Jalyn Fleischman & Brooke Goudie. Syracuse's leading scorer was freshman Emmie Johnson, who dropped in eight points off the bench. Natalee Wemhoff chipped in with six. Syracuse fell to 2-4 with the loss, while Elmwood-Murdock moved up to 6-1 on the season.

The boys' contest was knotted up at 17 apiece after the opening stanza before Syracuse built a six-point halftime lead at 31-25. That lead ballooned to eleven points, 49-38, to end the third quarter, and the Rockets cruised from there for a 64-48 triumph. Maxwell Parde hit eight free throws and wound up with a game-high 24 points for Syracuse. Nolan Gartner dropped in 17, and Jake Janssen hit double digits as well with eleven. For EM, Carson Towle knocked down eight free throws and finished with 14 points, while his teammates Brody Marsh (13) & Dashiell Colman (11) also scored in double figures. EM's guys are now 2-4 on the season, while Syracuse remains unbeaten at 6-0.

The Rockets host Falls City-Sacred Heart next on December 30, while the Knights await their bracket assignments in the OBT Tournament that same day.
