Smoke from truck fire visible across Tabor

TABOR -  Tabor firefighters extinguished a pickup fire Tuesday morning that billowed smoke visible from one end of town to the other.

Firefighters at the scene near the intersection of South Street and Jackson Boulevard said an Iowa man pulled off of the highway when he heard a popping noise and went to a friend's driveway. The driver told firefighters the fire spread rapidly after he opened the hood to investigate.

Firefighters arrived to find the engine compartment of the Ford F-150 engulfed in flames.

There were no injuries reported. Officials are calling the truck a total loss.
