Neighbor responds to car fire in rural Auburn
Three vehicles sustain fire damage
AUBURN – A neighbor with a tractor came to the aid after a car caught fire near other vehicles and buildings in rural Auburn Thursday afternoon.

Kevin Schlange and his son responded when Ally Worthey called about her car on fire. There were other vehicles nearby, as well as a garage and large, wood-framed machine shed.

Schlange used the loader bucket on a farm tractor to push a pickup truck out of the way, while his son used a fire extinguisher on the side of the garage. Flames from the burning car were rising to the roof of the nearby machine shed, so Schlange pushed the burning car away from the building.
Auburn firefighters arrived to extinguish the fire. All three vehicles had fire damage, but the two buildings were saved.
